Notes

This section describes what the engine computes, what each number is based on, and how strong that basis is. It contains no interpretations or readings: it reports only how the instrument works.

Every quantity here was checked against a reference outside itself, but not every reference is equally strong. This section says which is which. A solar term and a transmitted table, for example, are two different kinds of fact. Stating that difference is necessary, because otherwise the presentation of the instrument makes data of unequal strength look equivalent.

• Instruments derived The layers the engine computes, and the points where the schools diverge.
• Sources derived One row per quantity: the source the engine derives it from, the check it passed, and the rung it stands on.
• Schools What a school is here, what it takes to name one, and which one laid the board you are looking at.
• Where the engine stops One entry per declared boundary: what stands beyond it, who asks the engine for it, and why the line falls where it does.
• Handing a board to a model What a prompt commissions and what it forbids, and what never leaves your browser.
