Privacy and data protection

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679), this page states how this site handles the privacy and the security of the data of whoever reads it.

In short: what you enter stays yours. No personal data, no date of birth, no place and no text you type is written to a server here or to any database.

1. Who the controller is

The controller is whoever runs this copy of shipan, an open-source project. For anything to do with privacy, the channels are the ones named in the source of the copy you are talking to: the source of this copy

2. What is asked for, and what becomes of it

A. What a board is cast from: dates, times and places

Everything you enter for a board to be laid — the date, the hour and the minute, and the place as coordinates:

Computed, and not kept: It travels in the address of the page to the server, which computes a board from it and keeps none of it. The engine runs there and not in your browser, which is why no board can be laid without a connection.
Written nowhere: None of it is written to a database, to a system log, or to any other server.
It is in the address: The parameters are encoded in the URL so that a board can be bookmarked or shared, which means that sharing the link shares the coordinates and the hour that produced it — and coordinates name a doorstep rather than a town. Share one only with someone you would tell those things to.

B. The question you write for a prompt

The question, or the matter, that you write for a prompt stays whole on your device.
The server never receives, never reads and never logs the text you type. It is told that a question exists, so that the prompt can end on the line that introduces one, and never what it is; the browser adds the sentence itself before the whole thing goes to your clipboard.
This site sends nothing to any provider of artificial intelligence — not OpenAI, not Anthropic, not any other. What you do with the prompt once it is in your clipboard is your own decision, and between you and whoever receives it.

3. Cookies, and what is kept in the browser

Cookies and tracking

No cookies: No profiling cookies, no third-party cookies, and no advertising script of any kind.
No analytics: No behavioural tracking and no third-party analytics run on this site.

Local storage and cache

Two things are kept in your browser, and each of them can be checked:

The appearance you chose: Light, dark or automatic, under the key shipan:color-scheme. Setting the appearance back to automatic deletes it.
The site itself, once installed: The code, the stylesheet and the icons are cached so that the site opens without a connection, along with the page you see when there is none. No board is among them: not a date, not a time, not a place, not a question, not the picture of a board.

You can remove both at any time by clearing the browsing data of your browser, or by uninstalling the site from your device.

4. Your rights (Articles 15–22 GDPR)

Because nothing about you is collected, kept or handled here on a server or in a database, there is no archive of personal data from which anything of yours could be extracted, corrected or erased.

Erasure and rectification are therefore yours alone to exercise: clearing the cache and the local storage of your browser removes everything this site has.

5. Licence, and what can be checked

shipan is open source, under AGPL-3.0-or-later. Everything above — how it works, and that it tracks nothing — is not a promise you have to take on trust: it is readable in the source of the copy you are talking to. read the source of this copy
